Background: What is NOVA?
The National Organization of Vascular Anomalies (NOVA) is a non-
profit organization that helps families dealing with hemangiomas and
other vascular malformations. Primarily, NOVA is a resource for
information and networking for families in need. NOVA assists families
by providing information about medical resources in their area and by
informing parents about treatment options. Recently, NOVA has been
on the forefront of educating the public about PHACES. PHACES is an
association of medical conditions involving possible brain malformations,
hemangiomas, aterial malformations, cardiac issues, and eye
abnormalities. Little is known about PHACES and the medical
community is working hard to learn more. NOVA is one of only a few
organizations helping PHACES families find each other and pushing the
medical community to learn more about what causes this uncommon
disease.
How will the funds be used?
The money collected from this fundraising effort will be used:
- To fund the first ever PHACES conference at Texas Children’s
Hospital in November 2008
- To help fund medical research specifically about PHACES
Do you have any information I can distribute at my event?
